Tommie Melvin Smartt, 84, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. He was born in McMinnville on Sept. 15, 1933 to Marcus and Lillie Smartt, who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Leonard, Hoover, Jessie and H.B. Smartt; son, Ronnie “Beaver” Smartt. He was retired from the state of Tennessee Forestry Service.
