Sue Downs Smartt, 89, a McMinnville resident and Warren County native, was born July 6, 1927 and died June 4 at Webb House following a five-day illness.A retired educator with the Warren County School System and member of Westwood Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Billy Morris and Laura Susan Beal Downs. Mrs. Smartt was married to William Hackett Smartt III, who preceded her in death on July 12, 2002.Survivors include children and spouses, Dr. Bill and Mary Ellen Smartt of Knoxville, Amanda “Pinky” Smartt of Knoxville, Sydney and Larry Prater of McMinnville, and Amy Smartt of Nashville and four grandchildren, Abby Smartt, Jessica Kersey, Molly Wilkerson and Ethan Smartt.Graveside service and interment were held Tuesday, June 6 at Liberty Cemetery with Bob Deason to officiate. A prayer service was held Monday, June 5 in High’s Parlor with Paul Roberts officiating.
