Shirley Ethel Hitchcock Brady, 98, of Spencer died Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Chattanooga.
Born May 17, 1918, in Vining Springs in Van Buren County. She is predeceased by her parents, Morris Sampson and Mary Leona Jaco Hitchcock and her late husband, John Bouldin Brady of Spencer.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters, Hugh James Brady and wife Ann of Huntsville, Ala., and Mary Grace Pruitt and husband Jim of Huntsville, Nancy Ann Womack and husband Terry of Chattanooga and John B. Brady and wife Debi of Edmond, Okla. Other survivors include 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four brothers, Leard Hitchcock, Liston Hitchcock and wife Kathleen, Gerald Hitchcock and wife Mary Ann and Morris S. Hitchcock and wife Jean.
Visitation hours are Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., and 9 a.m. until time service Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Layne Funeral Home Chapel, 151 Argo Road in Spencer followed by a graveside service at Long Cemetery with Freddie Harding officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Burritt College Alumni Museum, 1032 College Street, Spencer, TN 38585.
