Russell Leon Parton, 70, of McMinnville passed away Tuesday, March 16, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was a native of Cannon County.

Survivors include his son Kevin Parton and his fiancee, Kelly Simpson, brother Grady Parton and his wife, Alice, nephews Ted Parton and Douglas Parton, niece Hallie Quick, father, “Pa” Ray Davenport, life partner Lynda Evans, stepdaughter Nicki Evans, grandchildren Newby, Jonah, Ian, Lindsay and Chaley, and great-grandchildren Chasity, Allyann, and Ellie.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Ferrell Davenport, father, “Bud” Parton, and stepson Joey Evans.

Mr. Parton was a longtime resident of the Blues Hill community and was a veteran of the Army. He was a retired employer of General Electric in Murfreesboro and more recently retired as a groundskeeper of Faulkner Cemetery. He loved mid-’50s Ford cars, yard sales, flea markets, junkyards and all-you-can-eat buffets.

Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 25, at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Nathan Jones officiating. Interment followed at Wood Cemetery.
