Rose Marie Hillis, 66, of McMinnville died Friday, Sept. 2 at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville after an extended illness.
She was a Grundy County native, a homemaker, devoted, loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law. She was born Saturday, Dec. 3, 1949 in Grundy County, the daughter of the late Joe B. Tate and Katherine Tate.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gary Don Hillis of McMinnville; three sons, Jerry Don Hillis, Brad Hillis and wife Claudia, Toby Hillis and wife Shelia; grandchildren Dexter Don "Dexter J" Hillis and Ariel Drake, NaToshia "Baby Girl" Wells and husband Darrid, Matthew Dylan "Bubby Head" Hillas and Amber McCormick, Jesse Brad James "Jethro" Hillis and Melissa Roberts, Jordan Daniel "Jordy" Hillis, all of McMinnville; great-grandchildren, Skyler Easton "Rocky" Hillis, Crimson Ray "Lil Bear" Wells. Kimber Ruth Bradley "Baby Bear" Wells; brothers, Gary Tate of Smithville, Hubert Tate and wife Leona of McMinnville; sister, Evelyn Driver of McMinnville; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Newton Tate.
Funeral service will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at 319 Castle Street in McMinnville with the Cleo Sanders officiating. The family requests no flowers be sent, just come and help remember this loving lady. Online condolences may be made to the family at gardensofmemoryfuneralhome.com.
