McMinnville resident and Mobile, Ala., native Robert Marion Christian Sr., 83, was born Feb. 3, 1937 and died Dec. 4 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville following a brief illness.

A retired minister with the Church of God, a United States Air Force veteran of Korea, and a member of Locust Street Church of God, he was the son of the late Marion Walter and Ida Isabelle Thomas Christian. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Samuel Glenn and Johnny Earl Christian; and five siblings, Earl, Walter, Tommy and David Christian, and April Etheredge.

He was married May 9, 1956 to Della Dell Higgins Christian of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Pam Christian and Donald and Karen Christian, all of Lawrenceburg, TN, Alton Christian, Robert “Bobby” Marion Christian Jr., and Frank and Michelle Southard, all of McMinnville, and Nolan and Darla Campbell of Rock Island, two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Philip Taylor of Lawrenceburg, TN and Angie and Floyd Martin of McMinnville, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, and brother Auther Ray Christian of Mobile, Ala.

Funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at High’s Chapel with Jeff Page, Dan Huddleston and Jerry Feather officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of service Sunday at High’s. Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 7, at Unity Church of God in Lawrenceburg, TN from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery located at 261 Piney Road in Lawrenceburg at 1:30 p.m. Military grave rites will be conducted at the cemetery.
