Robert Lee Kirby, 79

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Robert Lee Kirby, 79, was born Jan. 2, 1939 and died July 21 at his residence following an extended illness.

Retired from the state of Tennessee and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Willie H. and Hallie Miller Kirby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Eugene, Herman, Blotcher and Willie H. Kirby Jr.; three sisters Pauline Campbell, Alene Hattaway and Mildred Reed; brother-in-law Gene Allison; and niece Lesa Tubb.

He was married June 18, 1960 to Faye Tubb Kirby of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Mark Kirby of McMinnville; two granddaughters, Brittany Kirby and Jessie Hillis of McMinnville and Ashli and D.J. Cantrell of McMinnville; three great-grandchildren, Jackson Kirby, Allie Newby and Aubrey Cantrell; daughter-in-law, Ann Kirby of McMinnville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Carolyn Tubb of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Sue Allison of McMinnville; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marlin and Georgia Tubb of McMinnville and Marilyn Kirby of Austin, Texas; special niece and nephew, Christie Allison and Brad Allison and wife Christy; and several other nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kirby was an avid hunter and fisherman. He made turkey calls and enjoyed giving those to friends. He also loved to play cards.

Funeral service was Tuesday, July 24, at High’s Chapel with Harold Cook officiating. Burial followed at Bethany Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at
