Reba C. Prater, 88, a Warren County resident and native, was born Oct. 28, 1930 and passed away Jan. 14 at her residence following an extended illness.
She was a retired director of Central Daycare, bookkeeper, an operator for General Telephone Company, member of Central Church of Christ, and daughter of the late Dalton and Elsie Knight Cantrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Commer Lossen Prater; brother Donnell Lee Cantrell; and brother-in-law Major Richard Madison.
Mrs. Prater is survived by children and spouses, Karin and Gary Potter, Kevin and Suzanne Prater, and Katrina and Curt Tilton, all of McMinnville; six grandchildren, Brandon and Trista Potter, Alison and Jeremiah Eidson, Paul Lawson and Ashley Prater, Preston Prater, Shelly Tilton, Kelly Tilton Kelley and Brad Kelley; five great-grandchildren, Ivy and Anna Eidson, Tabitha, Julia and Candace Potter; brother and sister-in-law James Paul and Margaret Cantrell of McMinnville; sister Joyce Madison of McMinnville; and sister-in-law Joyce Jones Cantrell of McMinnville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at High’s Chapel with Kirk Brothers and Ben Bailey to officiate. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, and 9 a.m. Friday until the time of service at High’s. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
