Mr. Peter Martin Baltzell, 68, of McMinnville (Bethany community) died peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, April 16, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 24, 1946, in Waynesboro, Pa., was a retired engineering technician and a scientific-technical photographer for NASA, a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 173, and was preceded in death by his father Edward Maurice Baltzell. He was passionate about fishing, work with NASA, woodworking, creative projects, Japanese culture and food, and his green Dodge Dakota pickup painted with gold flames. A very big-hearted man who had many friends, he was a gentle soul, and a great daddy.
Survivors include his daughter Rebekka Lee Baltzell, his mother Ruth Linnenbom, sister Linda (David) Cundiff, and nephews Brad (Kristen) Cundiff and Drew (Julie) Cundiff, Jo Anne (George) Moling, family friends and neighbors Al (Kim) Taylor and Julia and Abigail. Other extended family and friends also survive.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Military grave rites will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064. The Baltzell family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at
