Paul Ray, 84, of McMinnville passed from this life on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro after an extended illness.

Paul was born Sunday, Oct. 11, 1936 in Manchester, the son of the late William Ray and the late Essie Earlene Prater Ray. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Smartt.

Paul is survived by his wife Edna Christine Metts Ray, sons Greg Ray and wife Nancy, Timmy Ray, Terry Ray and wife Pam, daughter Melody Luna, sister Juanita Cantrell, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brother Calvin Ray and Wayne Ray and a brother-in-law Robert L. Cantrell.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 5201 Manchester Highway, Smartt, Tennessee 37378 with the Johnny Newby officiating. The family requests everyone at the graveside wear a mask. Online condolences may be made at gardensofmemoryfuneralhome.com.
