Ova Opal Griffin, 89, previously of McMinnville, died Wednesday, Sept. 2.
She was born Nov. 18, 1925 in DeKalb County and worked in the computer department of Arnold Engineering Development Center and was a member of First Baptist Church. Ms. Griffin was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Lola Blankenship Griffin; brother-in-law, Sidney Fender; niece, Pam Peters; and nephew, Bill Peters.
Survivors include her sister, Velma Griffin Fender of Americus, Ga.; cousins and special family members Joe (Trish) Wright, and Seth (Ashley) Wright.
Funeral service is 3 p.m. Sunday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Wendell Judkins will officiate. Interment will follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at
