Ollen Marshal Hayes, 87

McMinnville resident and Cannon County native Ollen Marshal Hayes, 87, was born Dec. 3, 1924 and died Dec. 18 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness.
A retired employee of General Motors and lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion, he was the son of the late Isaac Lee and Dolly Sadler Hayes. He was married to Jimmie Ann Walker Hayes, who preceded him in death. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wilber Hayes; and two sisters, Lucille Kennedy and Geneva Gentry.
He is survived by special friend, Vida Fann of McMinnville; son, Michael Hayes of McMinnville; daughter, Patricia Sliger of Panama City, Fla.; stepdaughter, Peggy Stevens of Wyoming; brother, Leonard and Rowena Hayes of Sparta; sister, Virginia and Jack Boles of Muncie, Ind.; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today in High’s Chapel with Kevin Burden officiating. Burial will follow at Saylors Cemetery in White County with full military honors administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service today at High’s.
High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
