McMinnville resident and Van Buren County native Nina Marie Tobitt, 85, was born Aug. 30, 1937 and died March 30, 2023 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro following a short illness.           

A retired employee with NHC Healthcare and member of Friendship Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late David Ray and Edna Mae Mills Shockley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Jimmy Myers; daughter, Marie Nunley; seven sisters and one brother.

She was married to R.C. Tobitt of McMinnville on July 28, 1966.  In addition to her husband, Mrs. Tobitt is survived by three children, Donna Jean (Charles) Nunley of McMinnville, Jr. Myers of Rock Island and Richie (Amber) Tobitt of Manchester; eight grandchildren, Beau Lynn McBride, Mandy McBride, Mary Foutch, Lauren Tobitt, Gage Myers, Dustin Richardson, Paige Myers and William Tobitt; six great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Gail Brady of Fla. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 2 in High’s Chapel with David Gann officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
