Lucille Kell Grissom, 98, of Rock Island died Tuesday, June 14, at NHC Health Care in McMinnville.
She was born July 22, 1912, in Van Buren County and was a homemaker and a member of New Union United Methodist Church for 76 years.
Mrs. Grissom was preceded in death by her parents, Asa Ernest and Pearl Craddock Kell; her husband, Leonard Grissom; her grandson. Mark Haston; her daughter-in-law, Lois Grissom; her sisters, Cleo Bouldin, Pauline Whitlock, Hallie Higginbotham, Mary Julian, Martha Balkin, and Betty Upton, and her brothers Ernest, John, Leroy, Tom, and Asa Kell.
Survivors include her children, Kathryn and Jim Haston, Gerald and Reba Grissom, Collier and Dana Grissom, and David and Judy Grissom, all of Rock Island, and Charles and Donna Grissom of Orlando, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, including Amy Curee, Tim Grissom, Stevie Grissom, Carla King, Chris Grissom, Elaine Martin, Shannon Perry, Deanna Grissom, Jeff Grissom, Mike Grissom, Senia Mullican, and Julie Myers, many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; favorite niece, Grace Kell, and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Tim Lewis and David Grissom will officiate. Interment will follow at New Union Cemetery. The Grissom family will receive friends today from 4 to 9 p.m., and again Thursday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at
