Loretta Strode Evans, 85, a McMinnville resident and Putnam County native, was born Jan. 6, 1936 and died Jan. 25 at Boulevard Terrace in Murfreesboro following a sudden illness.
She was a retired buyer/ seller with Dezurik, a retired bank teller, a member of Arlington Church of Christ, and the daughter of the late Howard Clifton and Mary Eza Shockley Strode. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband James Edward Evans, son Howard “Butch” Evans, brothers Fred Strode, Jack Strode, Howard Strode, Clinton Strode, Benton Strode, and Ralph Strode.
Mrs. Evans is survived by son Gary Evans, grandchildren Gary Evans Jr., Sherwin Evans, Quinton Childress Evans, and Anthony Childress, great-grandchildren Gary Evans III, Jaylon Evans, Jamerson Evans, Grayson Evans, Zolae Evans, and Zyra Evans, sisters Jeanette Strode and Christine Strode. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would also like to send a special “Thank You” to Arlington Church of Christ.
A graveside service and interment was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Gardens of Memory with Bro. Burriss Lyons officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
