Lillian Maxwell Newport, 94

Trusting in the finished work of her Lord and Savior, Lillian Maxwell Newport, 94, of Cordova, formerly of McMinnville and Nashville, died Saturday, Aug. 18.

She was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Nashville where she participated in several church and community activities. For the last six years she lived with her loving daughter Amy Shipman where she was able to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Clara Maxwell; four brothers Melvin, W.F., Kenneth and Freddie Maxwell, all from Middle Tennessee. Mrs. Newport is survived by her daughter, Amy Shipman (Larry); grandchildren, Ethan Argo (Eva), Seth Argo (Lindsay), Sheryl Stockton (Winsor), Cory Shipman (Angie); great-grandchildren, Jalen, Jake, Ava, Carter, Davis, Issy, Oscar, Wilson, Maddie Kate, Millie and Will.

Funeral service was Monday, Aug. 20, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., Bartlett, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Meals on Wheels, Bellevue Baptist Church-Cordova, or charity of choice.
