Larry Ray Allen, 73, a McMinnville resident and Stewart County native, was born April 24, 1946 and passed away Feb. 24 at his residence following a brief illness.

He was a retired maintenance supervisor with a food processing company, and the son of the late Lewis & Emogene Outland Allen. Mr. Allen is survived by wife Benita Seay Allen, two children and spouses, Shelby (Scott) Nichols of Forest City, N.C., and Terry (Chrissy) Allen of McMinnville, three granddaughters Krystal (Justin) Melton of Forest City, N.C., Hope Allen of McMinnville, Emily Nichols and Jake Taylor of Rutherfordton, N.C.; one grandson Hewett Nichols and fiancée Catherine Cole of Forest City, N.C., four great-grandchildren Kelsey, Jonathan, and Jaxon Melton and Brecken Nichols, all of Forest City, sister Ann Smith of Paris, TN, and two nephews Tommy and Dennis Hoover, both of Nashville. A host of family, extended family, and friends also survive.

Larry’s family would also like to say a special thank you to Avalon Hospice for the care, love, and support they have been given and received during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, 106 East End Drive, McMinnville, or Avalon Hospice, 904 N. Chancery Street, McMinnville.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, at Morrison United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at church. No visitation will be held at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
