McMinnville resident and Warren County native John Phillip Scott, 75, was born Oct. 19, 1941 and died suddenly Sept. 22 at his residence.A truck driver, a veteran of the Tennessee Army National Guard, and a member of Shepherd of The Hills Lutheran Church, he was the son of the late Thurman Lenier and Emma Kesey Scott Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Kent Scott.He was married Oct. 3, 1983 to Marcia Chisholm Scott of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children and spouses, Dena and Tom Tanner, Brandon Scott, Mark Buss, and Kerrie and James Hayes, all of McMinnville; nine grandchildren and spouses, Miranda and James Barkve, Drew and Whitley Tanner, Kelsie Hayes, Cade Buss, Bree Hayes, Dylan Scott, Caitlin and Darren Hicks, Kevin Wilson, and Kaitom and Broc Matthews, all of McMinnville; four great-grandchildren; two siblings, Lenier Scott and wife Gail of McMinnville and Sue Dybdal and husband Roy of McMinnville; and two sisters-in-law, Carla Johnson of Nebraska and Vonda Springer and husband Terry of Nebraska.Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at High’s Chapel with pastor David McMinn officiating. Burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery.
