John Curtis Rains Jr., 71, a Beechgrove resident and Coffee County native, died Oct. 13 in Unity Medical Center of Manchester following a sudden illness. He was a truck driver for Walker’s Sod Farm, and son of the late John Curtis Rains Sr. and Molly Maples Rains, and Bud and Pauline Hall. Survivors include wife Jackie Rains of Beechgrove; three children Johnny Rains and wife Tonya, Kristi Rains Johnson and Lena Rains Sharp, all of McMinnville; six grandchildren, Grace, Kaydee and Lily Rains, Paige Johnson, Katlyn Sharp and Faith Smartt, all of McMinnville; three great-grandchildren, Bryce Majors, Keegan Goralski and Zayn Willett, all of McMinnville; brother Wayne L. Rains of Hartsville; sister Melba Jean Taylor of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews; and former wife and life-long friend, Louise Rains of McMinnville.Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at High’s Chapel.
