McMinnville resident Mr. Joe Edgar Aughinbaugh Jr., 85, passed away Tuesday July 5, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, surrounded by his family, after an extended illness.  

Joe was born on May 12, 1937, in Warren County, to the late Joe Edgar Aughinbaugh Sr. and Thelma Rebecca Wiser Aughinbaugh. Joe was a graduate of McMinnville City High School where he excelled in football. He was a retired Quality Control Technician with Nissan and a faithful Christian who celebrated his faith at Freedom Life Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Shirley Ragland Aughinbaugh, three sisters Mary Francis Hayes, Barbara Calvert, and Dorothy Green.

Joe is survived by his loving family, sons Brian Aughinbaugh and Brent (Amy) Aughinbaugh, grandchildren Ryan (Christy) Aughinbaugh, Justin Aughinbaugh, Carigan Aughinbaugh, Sabastian Aughinbaugh, and Malachi Aughinbaugh, great-grandchildren Peyton Aughinbaugh and Eli King.

Funeral service will be held Friday, July 8, at 2 p.m. at Freedom Life Church in McMinnville. Burial will follow in Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday and will be held again Friday, July 8 at Freedom Life Church from 10 a.m. till time of service. Special appreciation to Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro for all the kindness they gave to Joe.
