J.L. Parton, 80, died Monday, March 11, at NHC in Murfreesboro.A Woodbury native, survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lucille Melton Parton of Woodbury; children, Hugh (Rebecca) Parton and Virginia (Tim) Howell, both of Woodbury; siblings, Ellen Blanton of Nashville, Oscar Parton and Faye Burger, both of Woodbury; grandchildren, Prentice (Jordan) Parton, Hope (Justin) Tenpenny, Lauren Parton, Hilary Howell, Ford Parton and Landon Parton; great-grandchildren, Trista Parton and Mason Baccam; brothers-in-law, James Hancock and Billy Reed MeltonMr. Parton was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Daisy Tucker Parton, and his sister, Jo Ann Hancock.He worked many years in the insurance business and also in construction. He was a member of Leoni Church of Christ.Graveside services will be held at Leoni Cemetery at 2 p.m. Friday.
