Mr. Jimmy Douglas Dodd, 78, of McMinnville died Wednesday, March 9, at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.
He was born Aug. 5, 1943, in McMinnville, formerly owned Jimmy’s Produce & Nursery stand in Newtown, and was of the Baptist faith. Jimmy was preceded in death by daughter Tammy Kay Dodd, granddaughter Frankie Nicole Dodd, parents Jewel and Mary Delma Wright Dodd, and sisters Clarene Bounds, Mildred Jones, Iona Williamson, and Betty Neely.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Margie Dodd, son and daughter-in-law Jimmy and Linda Dodd, daughter Melissa Nuney and Buck McClure, grandchildren Lyndi (Hunter) Pack, Jacob Dodd, Molly Dodd, Lacie Varner, and Kaytlen Nunley, great-grandchild Arabella Varner, sister Wilma Hillis, and close family friend Josie Cooper. Several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Rodney King will officiate. Interment will follow at Charles Creek Cemetery. The Dodd family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., and again Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. in the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
