Jewell Dean Vaughn, 84, of Smithville (Oak Grove community) died Tuesday, April 26 at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.
He was born Jan. 1, 1932, in DeKalb County and was a retired nurseryman, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mr. Vaughn was preceded in death by parents Floyd and Mary Della Adcock Vaughn, sisters Ruby Young and Reba Harris, brothers J.D. Vaughn, Amos Reed Vaughn, and Gene Vaughn.
Survivors include his wife Rebecca George Vaughn, his daughter and son-in-law Sherry & Russ Mullen, his son and daughter-in-law Terry and Charlotte Vaughn, grandchildren Chelsea, Trevor, and Marcus Vaughn, Ben and Rachel Mullen, and brothers Jimmie Vaughn and Bill Vaughn. Many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Funeral service was Friday, April 29 at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Ted Stoffel officiated. Interment followed at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Military grave rites were conducted by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
