Jess Whitley “J.W.” Taylor, 98, died Aug. 17.
He was born on July 1, 1916 in Brush Creek. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of McMinnville, a past member of the Noon Rotary Club, Gideons, American Legion, and McMinnville Housing Authority Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess Whitley Taylor and Ada Frye Taylor, three brothers and four sisters, and grandson-in-law, Joseph Lyle.
He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Helen Turner Taylor; daughter, Susan Miller (Michael); sons. David Turner Taylor (Ann) and James Whitley Taylor (Phyl); grandchildren, Jay (Tiffany), Christopher (Tracy), Timothy (Veronique), Shea, and Lea Taylor, Amy Childress (Jason), Terri Biles (Steve) and 12 great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Abigail, Nicole, Wyatt, Sarah, Austin, Hudson, Harrison, John Thomas, and Emilie Taylor, Taylor Lyle, and Aiden Childress.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at noon at High’s Funeral Home in McMinnville with pastor James Johnson and pastor Jay Taylor officiating. Visitation will be at High’s Funeral Home Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon with services immediately following. Graveside services and interment will be at Brush Creek Cemetery at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to First United Methodist Church of McMinnville Debt Retirement Fund or to the Gideons.
