James Weismore, 87

McMinnville resident and Lincoln, N.Y. native James Weismore, 87, was born Aug. 18, 1936 and died June 15, 2024 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville following a brief illness. 

A veteran of the United States Navy, retired electrician with Merchant Marines and a member of the Baptist church, he was the son of the late Donald Charles and Beatrice Elizabeth Raynor Weismore, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Donna Jo Raylea. 

He was married to Doris Elizabeth Graham of McMinnville on Dec. 31, 1956. In addition to his wife, Mr. Weismore is survived by children, James Robert Weismore, Jr. of McMinnville, Ethan Chad Weismore and Terry Ernest Weismore, both of Morrison, Cheryl Elyse Myers and Nicole Dyan Smith, both of McMinnville and Patricia Ledger of Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marion Weismore of Morrisville, N.Y. and Betsy (Donald) Ellis of N.C. and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 18 in High’s Chapel. Burial followed at Centertown Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation was Monday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at High’s. Full military honors were administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
