James Harold Tuffy George, 81

Mr. James Harold “Tuffy” George, 81, of McMinnville (Lucky community) died Thursday, Feb. 20, at his residence.
 He was born Jan. 10, 1933, in DeKalb County, was a retired letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, a farmer, and a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, teacher, and served on various church committees. Mr. George was preceded in death by parents James Andrew and Mary Cripps George, sister Vernie Mae George, and brothers Ollie and John Robert George.
Survivors include his wife Peggy Jo Sanders George, daughters Karon (David) Wood, and Beth (Mike) Hamby, sister Rebecca Vaughn, and brother Hank George, all of McMinnville, grandchildren Derrick (Holly) Wood, Jason (Suzie) Wood, Steven (Stephanie) Hamby, and Laurel Beth Hamby, and great-grandchildren Dillan, and Alexus Wood, Kailey, Kody, and Kolton Wood, Austin and Tiffany Cantrell, and Abigail Hamby. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Donald Owens and Bro. Michael Carr will officiate. Interment will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. The George family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
