Mr. Howard B. Taylor, 97, of Spencer died Tuesday, April 12, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 9, 1925, in Christiana, TN, was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Harriet Walston Taylor and parents John Lee and Anna Mae Cook Taylor. Mr. Taylor served with the 460th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion during World War II with the U.S. Army and saw combat during campaigns and battles at Rhineland, Southern France, Rome, Arno, Ardennes, and Central Europe. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Arrowhead. Howard received wounds in action at France and Belgium. For 38 plus years, Mr. Taylor was a public school teacher in Florida, Ohio, Alaska, and Tennessee. He was a tenured educator retiring from the Van Buren County School System. 

Survivors include his children Terry Lee (Diane) Taylor, Teresa Jarmel, Stanley Taylor, Bill Taylor and Ann Ballew, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, family members, friends, and former students.

Graveside services and interment were conducted April 13, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at
