Hobert Elmore Jackson, 100, of McMinnville died Friday, Oct. 10 at Raintree Manor.He was born Jan. 8, 1914 in DeKalb County and was a retired fireman with McMinnville Fire Department, a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Masonic Lodge in Morrison, and a member of Newtown the Baptist Church. Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jefferson and Martha Henderson Jackson; wife, Berniece Marcum Jackson; brothers, Odas Jackson, Elbert Jackson, and Albert Jackson; and sisters Ressie Jackson, Arlena Luna, Nota West, Allie Jackson, and Letha Poore.Survivors include children, Brenda (Doug) Jones of McMinnville, Don Jackson of McMinnville, and Paul (Cyclene) Jackson of Virginia; grandchildren, Jim Blankenship, Donna Overall, Jeremy (Carla) Jackson, and Jennifer Jackson, and great-grandchildren Justin, Cody, Abagail, Rachel, Alec, and Adain; and brothers-in-law, Alton (Pearl) Marcum and Earl Marcum. Many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.Funeral service is 1 p.m. Monday at Spring Hill the Baptist Church.
