McMinnville resident and Warren County native Gordon Ray McGee Sr., 73, was born Sept. 8, 1946 and died Oct. 27 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville following a sudden illness.
A land developer and contractor and founder of Pioneer Building Supply, he was the son of the late J.C. and Ruth Spencer Phillips and was a member of the Methodist Church.
Mr. McGee was married Dec. 11, 1965 to Clara Brock McGee of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Amie and Kenny Hodges of McMinnville, son and daughter-in-law Gordon and Janet McGee Jr. of McMinnville, four grandchildren, Kenneth Brandon (Kristen) Hodges, Kendra Rae (Ben) Matheney, Garrick Raylan McGee and Gavin Rayce McGee, all of McMinnville, two great-grandchildren, Lillie Mae Hodges and Evie Jay Hodges, future great-grandson Boone Edward Matheney, four cousins Helen Sue (Carl) Kidd of Tullahoma, and Judy Ann (Michael) Henegar, Jason Henegar and Kristin Henegar, all of Murfreesboro, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at High’s Chapel with Jim Smith and Iven “Red” Craven officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at High’s. A Masonic Service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening during the visitation.
