Mr. Glynn Hobbs, 83, of Rock Island died Wednesday, Oct. 23 at NHC Health Care Center in McMinnville.
He was born April 24, 1930, in Warren County. He was a property appraiser, former owner of Hobbs Greenhouses, former employee of City Bank & Trust Company, and former educator with Central High School. He served his country with the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Church of Christ at West Riverside where he taught a Wednesday night and a Sunday morning Bible class. Mr. Hobbs was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Betha Perry Hobbs.
Survivors include his wife Janet Hughes Hobbs of Rock Island, son David Lynn (Janet) Hobbs, DDS, of Jacksonville, N.C., grandchildren Sarah Hobbs, Laura (Chris) Twohig, and James (Ashley) Hobbs, brothers Houston (Billie) Hobbs of McMinnville, and David (Janet) Hobbs of Falkville, Ala., and brothers-in-law Dorris (Marva) Hughes and Donnie (Johnnie) Hughes, all of McMinnville. Several nieces, nephews, family members, and many friends also survive.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Drew Milligan and Bro. Dorris Hughes will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. The Hobbs family will receive friends Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at
