Geneva Walsh Robinson, 82, died Thursday, Nov. 23, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro.
She was born Saturday, May 18, 1935, a child of William Walsh and Nola Pugh Walsh. She grew up in the Ninth Model community and was active in helping her parents run the farm and family store. She attended the local schools, as well as the Tennessee School for the Deaf. It was here where she met Dwight David Robinson, to whom she was married for 59 years. He died July 13, 2014.
Geneva was a tireless worker and her 57 years of employment included many years in the textile factories: McMinnville Garment Factory, Oster, MPC, Quality Mold and later Walmart. She was active in the deaf community and treasurer of the Highland Rim Chapter of the Tennessee Association of the Deaf. She was an avid sports fan, and ardent supporter of the University of Tennessee, particularly Lady Vols basketball and Pat Summit. She was a musician and enjoyed playing the piano and electric guitar. She enjoyed deer hunting and raising cattle. She was heartbroken when she had to give up her cattle due to her failing health.
Geneva will be sorely missed by her friends and family and her surviving daughter, Alberta Robinson.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home 415 N. Chancery St. McMinnville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alive Hospice 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203 (615) 237-1085.
