McMinnville resident and Cullman, Ala., native General Thomas “Red” Dover Jr., 67, was born Feb. 13, 1945 and died Dec. 22 at River Park Hospital following a three-year illness.A retired employee of Oster Corporation and member of Barren Fork Baptist Church, he was the son of the late General Thomas and Leona Ward Dover Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, J.C. Dover; sister, Maxine Smith and great-granddaughter, Autumn Paige Greene.He was married Dec. 14, 1963 to Linnie Linda Dover of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Rickey (Deborah Billings) Dover of Cleveland; daughter, Donna (Bobby) Earls of McMinnville; two grandchildren, Gary Wayne Sharp and Brittany Nichole Dover; four great-grandchildren, Nathan, Braden, Nevaeh and Katie; brother, Melton (Sherry) Dover of Dickson; two sisters, Jeanette (Glen) Jones of McMinnville, and Geraldine Sherrell of Woodbury, and a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws.Funeral service was held Monday at High’s Chapel with David Dawson officiating.
