Gary “Varmint” Atchley, 71, a Warren County resident and Knoxville native, was born March 23, 1948 and passed away April 1 following a short illness.

He was a retired diesel mechanic and son of the late Raymond Fred and Johnnie Ruth Parsley Atchley.

Mr. Atchley is survived by two children and spouses, Melissa and Rob Wolford of Morrison, and Matthew and Beth Atchley of McMinnville; best friend Paulette Atchley of Rock Island; three grandchildren and spouses, Sloan and Patrick Adcock of Rock Island, Salem and Zach Fulton and Nicholas Atchley, all of McMinnville; two great-grandchildren Zane Larken Adcock and Levi Gibson Fulton; two brothers and sister-in-law Larry Atchley of McMinnville, and Michael and Dawn Atchley of Nashville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Jimmy Crouch of Rock Island, Shirley and Jerry Hildreth, Denise and Jim Totherow and Pam Rose, all of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews; and best bud, Peanut. He was so loved by many.

Funeral service will be 12 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at High’s Chapel with Charles Dotson to officiate. Interment will follow at Webb Cemetery at Bluff Springs. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and 9 a.m. Thursday until the time of service at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
