Garey Truman Steakley, 65

Rock Island resident and Warren County native Garey Truman Steakley, 65, was born Sept. 4, 1945 and died Aug. 2 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro following a brief illness. 
A retired truck driver with Kendall Medical Supply, he was the son of the late Murphy Ray and Mona Mai Johnson Steakley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle Steakley Adcock, brothers Ernest Jewell and Ronald Dwight Steakley, and sister Barbara Ann Ferrell. 
He was married June 25, 1966 to Reba Ellen Davis of Rock Island. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children Deborah Steakley of Bell Buckle, Garey Lynn Steakley and wife Tisha of Rock Island, Jeromey Steakley of McMinnville, five grandchildren, Tera Prater, Shelby and Trevor Steakley, Hannah and Justin Disbro, great-granddaughter Sophia Moore, brother Murrell Steakley of Campaign, several nieces and nephews and uncle Charles Steakley of McMinnville. 
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at High’s Chapel with Jason Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service today at High’s.
High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
