Frances Griffith Holcomb, 97, a McMinnville resident and DeKalb County native, died July 23 at River Park Hospital following a sudden illness. She was a homemaker, member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ, and daughter of the late Peyton Monroe and Josephine Bryant Griffith.She was married in 1940 to Arzie “Sport” Holcomb, who preceded her in death Feb. 21, 1976. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Sue Ann Holcomb; sisters, Geneva Foster and Marjorie Byars; brothers, Lloyd, Chester, Hobert and Thurman Griffith; nieces, Patsy Byars and Mary Lois Cantrell; nephews Paul Foster, Ralph Griffith and Bill Griffith; great-nieces and great-nephews, Davy Griffith and Leanne Raymond.Mrs. Holcomb is survived by nieces and nephews, Sandra Griffith, Joyce Griffith, Joe T. Cantrell, Jack (Edna) Byars, Don (Susie) Griffith and Morris (Scarlett) Griffith of McMinnville, Julia (Doug) Carter of Bone Cave , Joe (Merrile) Byars of Woodbury, Tom Holcomb of Michigan, Darrell, Brian, Danene, Colene and Maurene Holcomb of Georgia; great-nieces and great-nephews, Perry and Jacky Byars, Ben, Jon and Joey Byars, Randy, Bruce and Brent Griffith, Chip Cantrell, Scott, Heath and Michael Griffith, Mary Strickland, Charity Sullivan, Amy Anderson, Pam Green, Teresa Atnip, Gina Mullican; Chandra and Dana Griffith, Michelle Manning and Julie Jones.
