Ethel Geneva “Jeannie” Medley, a resident of McMinnville, died Sunday, Sept. 6. Originally from Florence, S.C., she was 76 years old, a mother, sister, and a friend to many who loved her. Jeannie was the name she went by and all who knew her loved her singing voice, with country and church music being her favorites to sing.A widow of Neal Medley, and the former wife of Johnny Bost and Darrell Hieb, she was proceeded in death by her mother, Willie Geneva Calder Gandy; her brothers, James “Bubba” Jones and Edmon Jones; sisters, Gertrude Strickland, Margaret Grady, Carrie Welch, and Velma Grady; brother-in-law, Stanley Jones, Leonard Strickland, Albert Strickland, Jim Tolar, Carroll Grady, Charles Welch, Chuck Chichester, and Randall Grady.She is survived by daughters Kimberley (Jeff) Jacobs of Melbourne, Fla., Karen (Dewanye) Hammed of Greensboro, N.C., Karol (Joe) Scott of Sparta, and son, Kenneth Hieb of Woodbury; grandsons, Jasen Jacobs, Jared Jacobs; granddaughters, Kristen Hammed, Megan Hammed, Haley Hammed, Nikki Scott, and Brittany Scott; as well as five great-grandchildren.She is also survived by sisters, Frances Foxworth, Willa Jean Montrose, Edna Jone, Elizabeth Strickland, Katie Tolar, and Navassa Chichester, all of South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Mert Jones of McMinnville and Shirley Jones of South Carolina; brothers, Aaron Gandy and Billy Jones of South Carolina and Bobby Jones from Florida.The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home.
