Effie Girtrue Hodges, 90, of McMinnville died Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga after an extended illness.
She was born Saturday, Feb. 16, 1924 in Smithville to the late William Jackson Parsley and Minnie Pack Parsley, and was a member of Bethel Hill Baptist Church in McMinnville. She was a housewife and loving spouse of 48 years to the late Mr. Monroe Hodges.
Surviving are three sons, Robert M. Hodges and wife the late Novella of McMinnville, Franklin H. Hodges, Bennie C. Hodges and wife Debra of Cookeville; two daughters, Betty J. Marsili and husband Robert of Huntsville, Ala., and Rebecca G. Cassity and husband Phillip of Rock Island; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service for Mrs. Effie Girtrue Hodges will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home in McMinnville with Tommy Lusk officiating. Interment will follow at Blues Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home in McMinnville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral or to Meals on Wheels.
