Earl F. Hoop Jr., died Nov. 11 at Ocala Regional Medical Center in Florida.He was born to parents, Earl F. Hoop Sr., and Dorothy (West) Hoop on Monday, May 18, 1931 in West Union, Ohio. He left high school to join the military and served during World War II. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was instrumental in starting several healthcare facilities and was the CEO of each of them, including River Park Hospital in McMinnville in 1969, Marion Community Hospital in Ocala, Fla., (now Ocala Regional Medical Center) in 1973, and Skylark Outpatient Clinic in Ocala in the late 1980s.He was loved and will be greatly missed by those who survive him, including his wife, Betty Hoop; daughter, Michele Crim; sons, Michael Hoop, Doug Hoop, Steve Hoop (Stella), Jeff Hoop, and Joe Hoop; grandchildren, Michael Hoop Jr. (Ivy), Lindsey Crim, Jennifer Hoop, Dallas Hoop, Hunter Hoop, and Eloise Hoop; great grandson, Noah Hoop; brothers, Vaughn, Dick, and Bobby Hoop; sisters, Nancy Eubanks and Linda Fisher; several nephews and nieces, as well as many extended family members.There will be a Mass for Earl at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church on Friday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Trinity Catholic High School or Interfaith Ministries in his honor.
