McMinnville resident and Warren County native Dwayne Madison Bates, 48, was born March 6, 1968 and died April 1 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro following an extended illness.A member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of Carl Bates of McMinnville and the late Linda Faye Butcher Adams. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Hattie Bates; and maternal grandparents, Valton and Elsie Butcher.In addition to his father, he is survived by longtime companion, Cindy Donavon of McMinnville; two children, Stephanie Bates and Jessica Bates, both of McMinnville; two stepchildren, Christine Donavon and Shay Dawson; stepmother, Charlotte Bates of McMinnville; brother, Junior Bates of Morrison; half-brother, Travis Ferrell of McMinnville; two aunts, Kathy Rogers and husband Richard of Little Elm, Texas and Sandy Shelton; five uncles, Gary, Waymon, Jimmy, Mason and Douglas Butcher; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in High’s Chapel with Ray Skyles officiating. Burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery.
