Dortha Mae Baker Hankins, 87, of Spencer died Thursday, Oct. 11 at NHC Healthcare of Sparta.She was born in Spencer on May 18, 1925, the daughter of the late Alanzo and Ivory (Mills) Baker and was a former shirt factory worker in Van Buren and White County. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church.She is survived by daughters, Melba Jean Sullivan of Spencer, Willene Bayless and husband Junior of Fall Creek Falls, Marie Northcutt of Spencer, Iva Jean Tobitt of Spencer, Susie Bryant and husband Truman of Bone Cave, Ann Banker and husband James of Spencer; brother, James Robert Baker and wife Chico of California, 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 29 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, friends, and special aunt Mary Ruth Davis.In addition to her parents, Dortha was preceded in death by husband J.T. Hankins; brother William (Pete) Alanzo Baker; sister Mildred Bouldin, brother-in-law Buster Bouldin, son Joe Thomas Hankins; son-in-law Joe Glenn Northcutt; grandchildren, Jody Greene, John Hankins, Brandon Hankins, Noah Keen, Jonathan Stafford, and Makensie Davis.The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Spencer Funeral Home with Gene Brock and R.C. Christian officiating. Burial will follow at Spencer Town Cemetery.
