Dorothy Lillian Cantrell, 89, a McMinnville resident and Warren County native, died Aug. 30 at NHC Healthcare of McMinnville following an extended illness.
She was retired from Kingston Timer, a member of the Church of Christ and daughter of the late Aaron and Lillie Belle Roach Pepper. She was married May 23, 1945 to Newman Houston Cantrell Sr., who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sister Hattie Keel; and brothers Harold, James, Leonard, Morgan and Woodfin Pepper.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Jerri Ann Adams and Teresa and Henry Johnson, all of McMinnville; son and daughter-in-law Newman Houston “Chuck” and Kari Cantrell Jr. of McMinnville; grandchildren Bryson Lee Adams Jr. and wife Jamie, Courtney Lynn Johnson, Houston Blake Cantrell and Kayla Mangum, Baylee Ashton Fults and Karlee Ann Cantrell; great-grandchildren, Chandler Lee Adams, Hunter Lee Adams, Haile West Adams, Cailyn Hillis, Aspen Tai Adams, Maddox Rayne Adams, Hartley Blaze Adams, Houston Kyler Cantrell and Colton Lane Cantrell; sister Mildred Bumbalough of McMinnville; and sisters-in-law Sarah Baker of Tullahoma and Jean Cantrell of McMinnville.
A graveside service and interment will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Corinth Cemetery in DeKalb County. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at High’s. Family and friends are to meet at the cemetery Thursday.
