Dorothy Lee Simmons, 74, of Spencer died unexpectedly Monday, July 2 at River Park Hospital, McMinnville.
She was born in McMinnville July 3, 1937, the daughter of the late Letha Mae (Basham) and John Muncey. She was a member of Pleasant Hill New Life Baptist Church and was a nursery worker.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia A., and husband Ernie Fults of McMinnville; Linda McCormick of McMinnville; Cathy Cantrell of Plainville, Ohio; four sons Thomas E. Campbell, of McMinnville, David W., and wife Carol Campbell of Spencer, Ernie Simmons of McMinnville, Tommy Simmons,of Arizona; special sister-in-laws, Tinker Muncey of McMinnville, Ruth Muncey Robinette of Alexander, La.; special son-in-law, Paul Sowell of McMinnville; sister Dene Maffahany of McMinnville; brother, Junior Muncey of McMinnville. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Lillard Campbell, and second husband, Hollis T. Simmons, parents, John and Letha Mae (Basham) Muncey, two sons, Willie Charles Simmons and Willie Thomas Simmons, one daughter, Rachel Sowell, four brothers, Bud Muncey, Bill Muncey, Andy Muncey, Bobby Muncey, and one sister, Toots Turner.
