Dorothy Lee Simmons, 74, of Spencer died unexpectedly Monday, July 2, at River Park Hospital.She was born in McMinnville on July 3, 1937, the daughter of the late Letha Mae (Basham) and John Muncey. She was a member of Pleasant Hill New Life Baptist Church and was a nursery worker.She is survived by three daughters, Patricia A., and husband Ernie Fults, of McMinnville, Linda McCormick of McMinnville, Cathy Cantrell of Plainville, Ohio; four sons Thomas E. Campbell of McMinnville, David W., and wife Carol Campbell, of Spencer, Ernie Simmons of McMinnville, Tommy Simmons, of Arizona; special sisters-in-law, Tinker Muncey of McMinnville, Ruth Muncey Robinette of Alexander, L.A., special son-in-law, Paul Sowell of McMinnville; sister, Dene Maffahany of McMinnville; brother, Junior Muncey of McMinnville; 18 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her first husband, Lillard Campbell, and second husband, Hollis T. Simmons, parents, John and Letha Mae (Basham) Muncey, two sons, Willie Charles Simmons and Willie Thomas Simmons, one daughter, Rachel Sowell, four brothers, Bud Muncey, Bill Muncey, Andy Muncey, Bobby Muncey, and one sister, Toots Turner.The family will receive friends Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the time of the service at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home. Kenneth Johnson will officiate.
