McMinnville resident and Warren County native Darrell Payne Hitchcock, 61, was born June 9, 1957 and died Dec. 17 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville following a sudden illness.

The manager of Walker Gardens and a member of Bonner Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Al “Red” and Katherine McAfee Hitchcock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by mother-in-law, Genetta Haley.

He was married on July 24, 1982 to Dawn Haley Hitchcock of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Chase and Jessica Hitchcock of Rock Island; two sisters and brother-in-law Shirley Adcock of McMinnville and Jean and Ronnie Cook of Murfreesboro; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harris and Janice Haley of McMinnville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mark and Debbie Haley of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at High’s Chapel with Tim Long officiating. Burial will follow at Faulkner Cemetery at Pike Hill. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m., and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at High’s. Donations may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation.
