Clarence Everett Argo was born Sept. 17, 1933 in Grundy County and he passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center at the age of 87.

He was born to Howary Argo and Jennie Smartt Argo. He was a surveyor with the Tennessee Department of Transportation for 37 years. He was a veteran of the Tennessee National Guard. On Dec. 4, 1954 he married Lorena Mary Green for a total of 65 years of marriage. He loved being on the farm with his wife and animals.

Survivors include his wife Lorena Argo of Gainesboro, sons Bruce (Keitha) Argo and Ronnie (Sherri) Argo, both of Gainesboro, daughter Regena (Juan) Moreno of Gainesboro, grandchildren Chad (Ashley) Argo, Ronnie Argo Jr., Terri Whitaker, Brandi Chambers, Kristina (Dane) Waldman, Christopher Argo, Joshua Argo, Sarah (Chris) Delk, great-grandchildren Shari Goff, Eli Argo, Katie Argo, Ethan Chambers, Abby Whitaker, Felix Whitaker, Rex Waldman, Juniper Waldman, Landyn Argo, Logan Argo, Skylar Fulbright, Eddison Delk. Other relatives and friends also survive.

Visitation was Friday and Saturday at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Funeral service was 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24 with Bishop Steve Warren officiating. Internment followed at Argo Family Cemetery in the Seven Knobs community. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital by contacting the funeral home.
