Rock Island resident and Grundy County native Christine Jewel Brown, 81, was born Aug. 15, 1931 and died Feb. 3 at NHC Healthcare Chattanooga following an extended illness.A homemaker and member of Second Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Jackson and Nellie Ann Harpolle Wooten.She was married Dec. 17, 1950 to Roy Eugene Brown of Rock Island. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Wanda and David Smartt of McMinnville; niece, Rhonda Owens (Allen) of Rock Island; nephew, Shane Wooten of McMinnville; great-niece, Morgen Atchley of McMinnville; great-nephew, Kendall Wooten of McMinnville and great-great-nephew, Lex Thrower of McMinnville.Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in High’s Chapel. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Coffee County.
