Charlie Milton Medlen, 89, of McMinnville died Tuesday, Sept. 20 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.
He was born Dec. 2, 1921, in DeKalb County and grew up in the Peeled Chestnut Community of White County, was a retired employee of Genesco, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and a member of First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Medlen was preceded in death by parents, John Byrd and Maggie Billings Medlen; sisters Maudell Hicks and Mabel Burgess; and brothers J.B. and L.D. Medlen.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Edith Davis Medlen of McMinnville; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Jewel Medlen of Morrison; granddaughters, Becky Medlen of Morrison, and Tracey and husband, Brian Scott of McMinnville; several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.
Funeral service is 1 p.m. today at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Robert H. “Bob” Case and Rev. John W. Vaughn will officiate. Interment will follow at Caney Branch Cemetery. Military grave rites will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
