Charles William Davis, Sr., 85

The Colony, Texas resident and Davidson County native Charles William Davis Sr., 85, was born March 20, 1930 and died Feb. 21 at his daughter’s residence in Texas following an extended illness.
A retired Southern Baptist minister and a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was the son of the late John William and Nellie Isabelle Meredith Davis. He was married April 1, 1956 to Delores Eloise Nellums Davis, who preceded him in death Nov. 13, 2013. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by sister Dorothy Owen.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law Charles W. and Elaine J. Davis Jr. of Washington, D.C.; daughter and son-in-law Julie L. and D. Thomas Barclay of The Colony; six grandchildren, Jennifer L. Bond, J. Bradford Barclay, Andrew T. Barclay, Charles D. Barclay, J. Daniel Davis and Allison M. Davis; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Barclay and Bonnie Bond; and brother, John D. Davis of Baxter.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in High’s Parlor with Charles Davis Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Crain Hill Cemetery with military grave rites administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at High’s.
