Charles Thomas Reynolds, 82, a McMinnville resident and Pickett County native, was born Feb. 1, 1938 and died Wednesday, Jan. 20, at St. Thomas River Park Hospital of COVID-19.
He was a member of First Baptist Church. Charles was raised in the Mud Creek community of Rock Island. His large family relocated from Byrdstown due to the formation of Dale Hollow Lake. A retired plumber/ electrician for Byars Plumbing & Electric and maintenance supervisor for McMinnville Housing Authority, he also was a longtime volunteer firefighter for the McMinnville Fire Department. He was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast known for long over-the-road touring and close-to-home backroad adventures.
He was the son of Johnie Edgar Reynolds and Lora Jane Winningham Reynolds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Barbara Jo McGiboney Reynolds who passed in 2019. Other family who preceded him in death are brothers Hesper Reynolds, Waldo Reynolds, Cordell Reynolds, J.B. Reynolds, Ronnie Reynolds, and Clifford Reynolds, and sisters Anna Gunnels and Johnnie Lorene Hurn.
Survivors include his children Rhonda (Fred) Martin and Ryan (Leslie) Reynolds, grandchildren Megan (Charlie) Clarke, Garret Martin, Ridge Reynolds, and Emma (Holden) Baker, brothers Hyle (Rosemary) Reynolds of E. Peoria, IL and Rodney Reynolds of McMinnville, sister-in-law Gail Askew of McMinnville, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Smartt Station. Bro. Jeff Owens will officiate. Friends are to meet at the cemetery on Saturday. Masks are required for graveside. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
