Charles Herbert Shorty Ward, 77

Mr. Charles Herbert “Shorty” Ward, 77, of Walling, died Saturday, July 29 at NHC of Sparta.
Shorty was born May 22, 1940 in White County to the late Noah Lee and Augusta May Jordan Ward. He was a boiler guard at Cumberland Lumber in McMinnville and received multiple awards for his 30 years of perfect attendance. When he was not working, he loved to fish. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Lee Davis Brock Ward; brother Wilmer Ward; and sister Eunice Simmons.
Survivors include his stepchildren, Virginia Lee Presley and William Daniel Brock, step-grandson, Thomas Presley, two brothers Noah Glenn Ward and wife Sandra, Clifford Ward, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was Tuesday, Aug. 1 at the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial following at Highland Cemetery. John Phillips officiated with music by Gene Hodge. Thomas Presley, Daniel Brock, Jerry Hensley, Glen Hensley, John Phillips and Bill Rueckert served as pallbearers.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
